  1. I did a quick search and didn't find anything that was useful, so I'm posting a new message. I tried converting an XVid to DVD using DJRumpy's guide.

I extracted the audio and converted it to AC3.

I encoded with CCE, using the settings that are recommended according to DJRumpy's guid.

Authored with DVDAuthorGUI, also used DVDAuthorGUI to make an iso. Burned with Nero.

DVD plays fine on my computer using PowerDVD software. DVD freezes when I play it on a Pioneer DV-343. When I play it on a Mintek DVD-2110, except when the video seems really jittery, like it's moving around.

Last time I tried to do conversion, I didn't extract the audio and let CCE make an mpa file from the mp3 stream in the avi file. I think the video was ok, but the audio was stuttering, that's why I tried to extract the audio and convert it to ac3.

So, now, I'm not sure where the problem is.

EDIT: I just checked the source for bad frames, and there were none.

maybe when you made the xvid - the source was not great or that encoding to xvid is the issue

Did you deinterlace? If so, don't! Deinterlaced video played on a TV, even if you are using progressive scan will look jerky, like frames were dropped.

The freezing sounds like media/player compatability or burning problems. The jitters may be field order.

kinda sounds like you got the field order wrong. use restream to change the field order flag on the m2v.

  6. I used restream to change the order to bottom first, and when I reauthored, I got a disc error when I tried to do playback with the Mintek.

I'll try figuring out the interlacing thing later, unless someone else has any other suggestions. How do I check if it's deinterlaced or not with CCE?

    Thanks

  7. I figured out my problem, all I needed to do was to run the encoded file through pulldown.exe to fix the fps.
