  1. I was woundering if you can use MP3 for sound on a VCD or SVCD?

  2. You really shouln't, the only spec compatible stream is MP2 (SVCD should support 5-1 MPEG audio, but almost no player will play it that way).

    MP2 and MP3 are essentially the same -- I think the main difference is you can potentially create an MP2 file with six discrete audio channels. Almost all software and hardware players that are capable of playing stereo MP3 and also play stereo MP2 files.

  4. How would I go about useing MP2 on a SVCD? What program would I use to get MP2 to work on a SVCD? Thanks for the replys.

  5. If the software you are using wont accept MP3 then (in case you did not know) why not just convert the mp3 file to wav There are a million utilities to do just that, a good one is CDEX and can be downloaded fo free from download.com

  6. ypu can but the only player i know of playing a vcd with a MP3 file is XingDVD player.....try toolame to convert to mp2 or SCMPX

    TMPGEnc creates MP2 files .. this is just the file extension it gives to the audio it creates for MPEG files. You will sometimes miss this because you may only use TMPGEnc to create fully multiplexed files containing both audio and video.

  8. So I make an MP2 file and add it with the video only file in nero to make a SVCD or what. Will it be better sound then the video/audio file?
