  1. Hi all,

I have several video clips on my computer that are actually longer than they appear. Windows Media Player (classic & v9) will say the clip is 2 minutes long, and will play for two minutes.

However, if I move the time cursor to another part of the clip (the middle, for example) I'll see another part of the video, and THAT part will only play for a short period before stopping.

I've taken the video clips into Adobe Premiere and also into TMPGEnc and both only show the video having X amount of frames (short). The only video player that plays the clips correctly is my DVD software (e.g. WinDVD).

Here is more relevent information. One clip is 66.5 MB and only shows to be 49 seconds long. However, scrolling around inside the movie reveals that it's actually much longer (maybe 10 minutes).

Oh, and the timer in WinDVD does not function properly either. Although it plays the entire clip, the timer will show "1" for about 13-15 seconds, then "2" for another 13-15 seconds, and so forth until it finally reaches "49 seconds" several minutes later!

This is some kind of strange / bad encoding job, I'm sure. I just would like to know what I can do to fix it. DVD Software is so cumbersome compared to WMP, which open almost immediately on my computer.

Thanks, and BTW this site is great. I've been a lurker for a few years (since vcdhelp.com) and there is a WEALTH of information here. Hopefully the answers to this post will help someone in the future, including me!
