Hi all:
I recently upgraded from Nero 5.0 to 5.5.2.4. Ever since then I haven't been able to burn one single CD. Sometimes the OS (Win95) crashes but most often it does the 'test' okay but dies in the 'burn' phase. I've tried making CD-ROM (ISO) (without an image) and then I tried using the XVCD .nrg file from this site. Neither worked. I'm attaching a copy of the message log to the bottom of this post. You can see that the problems start with a "power calibration error" at message #25.
Now, I'm wondering if there is a problem with doing the upgrade. I never had a problem with Nero 5.0. I've had NOTHING BUT problems with Nero 5.5. HOWEVER, I am also experiencing some hardware problems. I've lost one hard drive and I'm worried I may lose the other. That's actually my motivation for trying to burn a CD-ROM of my files -- I'm afraid my main disk will crash soon. My CD-writer can still READ disks okay but I'm wondering if it might be damaged as well. I'm asking for help in figuring out whether my inability to burn a disk is due to Nero 5.5 or a hardware problem.
One idea I had was to remove Nero 5.5 and reinstall 5.0. I've sent an email to ahead.de asking them for my registration code. Since they haven't responded, I went in the registry and looked up the number written there. Do you think this 6x4 (6 sets of 4 digits) code is good for both v5.0 and v5.5? I'd hate to remove Nero, try to reinstall it only to find out the code I wrote down from the reigstry doesn't work for Nero 5.0!
Thanks for any help,
-Guy Mann Dude

Hmm? I use Nero 5.5.2.4 without any problems, I can even make VCDs with menus
I've used it under win98 and winME. So I think it might be something with your setup.
However, a LOT of people have report various problems with 5.5.2.4 and have gone back to using 5.5.2.3 (mostly menu problems). Not sure if this helps any...
