I have captured home movies on mpeg2 format and then i built a dvd with this files.

My question is regarding the vob files that now you have created and that later on probably you will need to edit again. Since I do not keep the mpeg2 files I captured , how can i go back to mpeg2 files based on my vob files ?

Of course i am thinking in not reencoding issues, so, is there anyway to go back to my mpeg 2 files?

    thanks in advance

Best regards from colombia south america

vob files are mpeg2 files , just use dvd decryptor and stream mode ...

Or try renaming the extension ".MPG".

Or you could just open the VOBs in an editor and export to MPG.

Or you could demux with Vobrator and open the elemental streams in an editor, then save as MPG. Pick one that works

  6. Hi ticos2000,

If your VOB files are stored in DVD file structure i.e. in VIDOE_TS & AUDIO_TS folders then probably you have more than one vob files. Then you can uses "Nero Vision Express" or "WinAVI Video Convetrer" or "Super DVD Ripper" to reconvert your VOB files to mpeg files. If you have just one vob file you can use TMPGEnc to convert into mpeg file. Depending on the version of TMPGEnc you use, you MAY have trouble with the audio encoding. TMPGEnc does not read AC3 encoded VOB files.

VOBs don't have to (and shouldn't) be reencoded to get mpegs. Just demuxed.

thanks for you sugestions, actually i followed baldrick recomendation and definitely you do not need to reencode to mpeg2 files, i tried tmpeg dvd author and that made the trickl .....VOB back to mpeg2 flawlessly!!!
