  1. Is anyone experiencing problems after installing the latest firmware?

I had the unit lock up where I had to unplug the unit to regain control. I tried holding the on/off button for over 10 seconds before unplugging.

I was trying to erase part of a split using the browser>edit>erase key sequence.

I didn't lose anything since I was trying to erase anyway. But, having to unplug the unit is very bothersome. I have only had the unit lock up the one time and I have done dozens of splits, erases and merges with the unit.

Maybe the units software was developed by Microsoft and this problem is the equivalent to "the blue screen of death", or the "three fingered salute"

I can tell you on my LVW 5045 I have not had the lock up problem with 191 and I did upgrade to the factory 193 version and I not seeing any issues with regular use.
One problem I do see is I have a compact florencent light in a table lamp about 10 ft away and every once in a while I see my 5045 just power on with no reason. This occurs maybe once a week or less. I can't see how light might effect this also underneath in the basement I have a oil forced air heater and both items are capable of noise etc.
I was wondering too if anyone knows what VCR code is used in the Dish pro 301 system to activate a record on the 5045?

  3. Well, the release 193 is still full of bugs.

The unit hangs up (probably not) randomly when using the hdd/dvd browser menu. I am experiencing sound problems when switching inputs from TV/Scart/HDD: the optical output doesn't restore the correct sound configuration to my 5.1 Creative decoder. I have to either switch the unit off/on, either change the settings on the Creative decoder, either play something from the brower menu, but that doesn't work every time.
Also, the timer didn't start today and I missed an important recording (@#´[]`ç!´) today. The thing is the quick recording doesn't turn off the recorder when done, but the timer doesn't start if the recorder is on.
As usual with Liteon: cheap, but cheaply designed.
