I have done some new tests of procoder and CCE. It seems that previously I liked procoder but now I am going back to CCE. In my previous test I used the cdvc codec with CCE. Of course I applied the chroma fix but still I got very contrasty pictures. I then did the tests with the dvsd codec and now procoder still has a contrasty picture but CCE looks just right. My tests are B frames at min=2000, max=8000, avg=4000. Look at the girls forehead to see what I mean. I applied the peachsmoother to one CCE encode with noisereduction=100 and I think this looks best.

I have been unable to get satisfactory results out of procoder 2.0 without giving over my machine for upwards of 24 hours for a 90 minute vid. CCE can handle the same 90 minutes in 3 hours at the same settings. Even if I add another couple of hours for virtualdub filters, I am still ahead by over 300%.

Mastering quality in Procoder produced the blockiest encode I have seen from a major player, and this was on a 2-pass VBR 6000 (4200, 9000).
