ive tried to convert an avi file (divx) to dvd using the dvd2svcd software but im getting the error:
audio format not supported, only ac3, mp3, mp2, and pcm supported.
look at the properties of the movie file it says the sound is divx wma audio v2.
is there any way i can dvd2svcd to work?

Not without treating the audio separately. (I don't think many encoders/allinoneoneclickwonder apps supports WMA as audio source.) You can extract the audio stream in VirtualDubMod, then find some wma to wav conversion, lastly encode wav to whatever format you'd like it to be. Even if I've never stumbled on WMA in any AVI, Goldwave usually succeeds in converting any AVI audio to wav - just load the AVI, save wav. Might work in this cas too.
