  1. Hi,

I'm looking to buy a new optical mouse (wired) I currently have a microsoft intellipoint that's about 4+ years old. The pads are all worn off and the mouse (pointer) shakes on the screen. I've smashed it on the desk one too many times while playing online games Anyhow it's time for a new one. I was looking to spend no more than $50 or so.

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I've been using a Logitech Cordless Optical for a little over a year and you would have to pry it from my cold dead hands to get it off of me.

I'd have to agree Sifaga though, whatever works. I just need to find a bigger one my self next purchase. They seem to make them all for people with girly-man hands.

Microsoft Wireless Mouse and Keyboard here. I forget what it cost me but it sure is COOOL...
All it takes is a USB port.

I like my Logitech optical. But it's all in the hand of the beholder.

  8. Why bother with a wired mouse? Wireless mice track just as well.

I use the Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 - it's a damn good mouse. It is comfortable, it tracks well and the battery life is incredible - I put some Duracells (2 x AA) in it in August, and they are still reading 70%. I use it a lot, too.

My friend has a wireless mouse, I think it's this one http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=26-104-161&depa=0

It seems to have too much "lag" compared to a wired mouse. I play Day of Defeat and it just seemed to be a little off I guess. It's not the best but I'm lazy and don't want to worry about recharging batteries. I forgot simple things like that all the time

  10. No offence to your friend, but that's a Logitech mouse and not a particularly advanced one at that. I have an older cordless mouse that had horrible lag and ate batteries.

I can guarantee that a decent Microsoft cordless mouse will be just like a wired mouse, and will go on and ever on with an ordinary set of AAs. We're talking months - it's so efficient that I don't even waste a set of rechargables on it.

I use a MS Intelasplorer 2.0 (however you spell it) that I got from alienware to match my case on my PC. Its a good mouse.

Strangely because of a sale I use a cheapo MS Wireless mouse on my Powermac G5, it works ok also.

You know what I like about the wireless mice? The extra heft that the batteries add to it. I like that added feedback when moving it around.

I've had a Logitech cordless optical for a while now and like it a lot. Bought some NiMH batteries for it so I could keep recharge with it like the newer ones. If I had to get a new one now I'd get the latest Logitech with the toggle mouse wheel. Have you tried one of those? They're mad! I don't know what I'd bind the left and right toggle on the mousewheel for but I did like all the buttons it had available. I've got one of the Logitech MX700s at work which I bound undo/redo to the thumb arrow buttons that I really like. Maybe left and right mousewheel to switch between active windows?

And I wouldn't OWN a mouse if I could find a couple more KBs with inbuilt Touchpads, as in the Cirque Input Center I am using, now.

Mouses suck. Screwed up with the finest shit that can float in the air, makes ropes around the rollers.

bang them on the desktop to make them work a couple more lines.

My touchpad works all the time, scroll with a right edge drag, right click by taping the right hand corner, pointer speed, halfway across the 3 inch touchpad, clear across the screen, yet have a line of resolution or so control.

Better than a mouse, and at about 8 years old, WAY longer lasting.

Have to see if I can still afford a new one, as this one is serial with PS2 adapter.

    Cheers,

    George

I started a thread awhile back asking advice about buying a new mouse and pretty much everyone said stay with wired and I thought well okay that's what I'll buy, but now I don't know. I think I would really enjoy a wireless if I didn't have to worry about battery use, so does anyone else besides Cobra have experience with Microsofts Wireless Intellimouse Exployer that supposedly has an extended battery life (6 months) as a feature? And does the tilt wheel feature really work? Also since I use Firefox does this keep some of it's settings and features from working? I would like to be able to have usable buttons for web browser forward and back along with other neat little things like that, although I'm not sure I understand what you can actually do with some of the newer mouses. Most of my time on the computer is web browsing.

I would be open to getting a Logitech wireless only if it had a similar battery life but don't know much about their rechargeable models, anyone know anything about them? Or maybe just a standard wireless with some nice features (no gaming required) that I wouldn't need to change the battery in but every 4 or 5 months with everyday use. Does Logitech have a similar tilt wheel function? Any suggestions on Microsoft or Logitech and models would be appreciated. Thanks!
