  1. Hi,

I would like to remove some links on a dvd menu (specifically the non-english subtitle links in the Harry Met Sally subtitle menu). I read through both the DimadSoft and Goldfinger_007 guide which tell me to simply right click the relevant hotspot and select the 'hide button' or 'delete button' option.

I have done this for the non-english subtitle links on the relevant menu. I havent messed around with another other settings, and when I use DVDReMake Pro's "Export DVD" option, I cannot load the files in DVDShrink 3.2.0.15. The error from DVDShrink is "Invalid data in file "C:\DVDs\When Harry Met Sally\dvdremake\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01.0.VOB".

I have tried it more times with different DVDs all with the same error. Is there something I am doing wrong, or is there something important I have forgotten to do before exporting the DVD?

Any help on this would be most appreciated.

    Thanks,

    ducky303

Uhmmm you could use DVD Shrink first, then use DVD Remake Pro to do what you want to do after...

    That should work...

I think using DVDShrink first doesn't make sense because usually one wants to get rid of unneeded stuff in order to reduce DVD size and achieve a better shrinking percentage. At least with me it's always DVDReMaKe first, then DVDShrink.

I have never experienced your problem using the option Hide Button, so maybe you just have to make sure that you don't delete buttons.

I guess it all depends on what you're actually removing...

However if that's the case and all he's removing is buttons then he could remove the Buttons using the free version of MenuEdit by dimad, you won't be able to see the actual buttons with the free version, but by looking at them in DVD remake Pro first you'll know which ones they are...

Then you can use Shrink after the buttons are removed...

Might want to test it in a software DVD player first prior to shrinking to make sure the rest of the buttons still work...

I dont believe removing buttons alone will reduce the size of the DVD.

Of course just hiding a button doesn't reduce the size of a DVD, but when I hide a button then I want to get rid of the feature the button is used for, like trailers, other dvd extras, audio streams etc.
Of course I also remove the unwanted stuff (video blocks in DVDReMaKe, audio streams in DVDShrink)
This sometimes reduces the size of a DVD dramatically and results in better encoding quality when using first DVDReMaKe, then DVDShrink.

MenuEdit is a good choice to hide buttons, too. I sometimes use it when I forgot to hide buttons in DVDReMaKe.

Didn't mean to upset anybody, English isn't my first language so maybe I didn't sound polite enough!

  11. Hi all,

Thanks for the input. I do not get to surf frequently so I apologize for the lateness in my replies.

    @guns1inger: I am using DVDReMake Pro 2.6.2.

@MackemX: The When Harry Met Sally DVD files had to be removed to make space. I just burnt the movie only. However, I have the same problem with Once Upon a Time in Mexico. To answer your question, the VTS_01_0.VOB on the original DVD is 38K, and the one outputted by DVDReMake is also 38K. Should they be different?

@fingers & Billie: Thanks. Isnt MenuEdit difficult to use? Does VCDHelp have a guide on how to hide menu buttons using MenuEdit? Or could you possibly summarize in steps how you use MenuEdit to hide menu buttons?

    Cheers,

    Ducky

it's pointless helping with an out of date version as it wastes everyone's time
