  1. I may be going insane. I have read everything on this site and others that I can, but still cannot accomplish my goal.

I am using DVDDecrypter and Auto GKnot to get fabulous quality AVI's broken down by chapter, but when I try to import the AVI into Premiere Pro, it immediately says that it is importing, even shows a non-moving status bar, but nothing happens. I could leave it there all night and still not import.

My end objective is to edit "offensive" content out of the file, and create a new, family friendly version.

Help, please, before it's too late and they come to take me away, oh my!

Codecs like XviD and DivX do not work well with apps like Premiere pro or rather premiere pro doesn't work well with them. I would suggest that you edit before converting. If autoGKNot lets you edit the AVISynth script then you could use a series of trim() commands to edit, although I guess it encodes the audio seperatly.

  3. Simply use VirtualDub to cut off the unwanted scenes from your AutoGK-produced AVI file. No need to hassle around with Premiere (which isn't really able to work with DivX or XviD).

  4. Does VirtualDub allow me to edit audio separately from video, vice/versa, and both together?

Should point out though that you can only cut on I frames unless you re-encode. I guess it can do all of the above. If you were to disable the audio, then you could just cut the video, similar for just audio.

  6. The reason I'd like to get the movie into APPro is that I am very proficient with that program, as well as with Encore DVD.

Is there some other way for me to create high quality files of any type that will import effectively into Pro.

What I would like is just a "checklist" to get me from DVD to Premiere Pro.

    Maybe that's asking too much
