  1. Hi -

I have converted the first two parts of the Godfather Trilogy to Divx for viewing on my Pocket PC. I have noticed that the volume levels after doing so are very low. I have done a side-by-side comparison of a few scenes and it's definitely way lower than the DVD.

Here's how I've worked the project:

-Rip VOB files using DVD Decrypter
-Convert to DivX using Auto Gordian Knot
-Convert to Pocket DivX using Pocket DivX Encoder

After the file comes out of AutoGK, there is no sound at all (WMP tells me there was an error downloading the codec, then it proceeds to play the file without the sound). When the file comes out of Pocket DivX Encoder it has sound again but it is very low.

Any suggestions? I have converted other movies through Pocket DivX Encoder without losing volume, but they were movies that I did not originally rip or convert in AutoGK so I think perhaps it is in those steps where the problem is.

    please help, and thanks

  2. What format is the audio in? If it's MP3 and it's a normal problem with low volume, you could:

    (1) use VirtualDub to demux it (File/Save Wav...)
    (2) strip the WAV header using WaveMP3
    (3) amplify using MP3gain
    (4) Reapply the Wave header with Wavemp3
    (5) re-mux and save the new avi with Virtualdub.

If it's in .ac3 there's nothing you can do tho, except use a decoder filter with volume control.

P.S. even if this advice is useless, check out WaveMP3 & MP3Gain, they really come in handy sometimes.
