  1. I just did a full reinstall on my PC. I've got version 6.6.0.1 of Nero installed now, just the Burning ROM package. I'm wondering whether or not to install InCD. I had Roxio on here previously so it's drag to disk was already in place. Thing is I almost never use RW media and when I do I usually burn it like regular media. I never drag anything to a RW disc. The built in Roxio drivers in XP don't allow the same function do they? (I'm pretty sure that answer is no) And I'm assuming the InCD program wouldn't cause any conflicts with the XP roxio drivers?

Windows has built in drag and and drop cd burning, but the other programs you install will often disable it.

I haven't used InCD so I am not exactly sure what it is.

Is it just for CD RW's?

    I don't know what you're talking about.

I don't really use InCD but I have it installed. I know that if you already have EZ CD Creator installed, it won't let you install InCD. I don't think it would hurt anything.

Windows XP does not support native packet writing (drag'n'drop) with DVD media. Personally, I avoid all packet writing software, as it is often buggy and causes problems with other software. Many drive manufacturers also warn that packet writing software should be removed before performing firmware updates.

It shouldn't hurt anything to install it. I have always used Nero, and there have been no conflicts. I find though that I never use InCD (and it's just one more thing your computer loads into the system tray at startup -- get too much in there and things slow down).

It's a cool program and works fine, but if you have something you like just as well to burn, I wouldn't bother.

  6. Thanks for the input. I think I'll just forget it for now. If I go several months and find I've never needed it, well I was going to say I just won't ever bother, but in several months I'll forget about it anyway.
