  1. MY brother got a Home made DVD set off of Ebay with about 13, 30 min episodes per disc, with very little artifacts, or noise, The sound color and everything is very good , and overall good quality. Now i have the same episodes on my computer as i get them from narutofan . I want to be able to take 13, 30 min episodes on to a DVD so it doesn't take up 20gigs of space anymore on my computer. I need a to find a good program to Convert Avi to VTS, or VOB files, and make them not to large, But really good quality and after that i can compress them with DVD Shrink? Need some help here. I wouldn't mind if i could fit 10 , bit 3 per disc will make to many DVD when i have 119 eps. Please help me

  2. Tmpgenc with KDVD template to encode.
Done right, they'll all fit on one dvdr.

  5. I now have The Kdvd template for tmpge plus , and tmpge express has xdvd
what is the differance between the two , what does a better job quality wise. I want a smooth copy. Should i make My home video files big with Tmpge and use dvd shrink to do it, or should i just keep them at small file with like xdvd or kdvd? I want to put as many eps as possible with a good quailty. The home made DVD my brother got off of ebay have every little noise, and artifacts. I want to make mine as close to thoses as possible.

I have been using DVD shrink to back up my DVDS and a 40% compression rate looks really good with mimanal artifacts)

  6. Encode 1 with KDVD. Encode one at very low bitrate using normal dvd template. Encode one with xdvd. Encode one at normal dvd, shrink. Compare the 4.

  8. FYI, I encode a lot of stuff using KDVD Half D1 template.
I then author my dvd in DVDLab Pro, usually somewhere around the 6-7 gig mark.
I then use Shrink with Deep Analysis to get it onto 1 dvdr.
    No complaints here.
Any artifacts found after shrinking are there in my original encodes, and it seems shrink doesn't add any. The only thing about the KDVD template (and peculiar to tmpgenc) is it's excessive macroblocks.
I disected the template, and use (approximately) the same settings in Mainconcept mpeg encoder, and it's a smoother output.

  9. I took a look at all the video's i encoded . I used 4 different programs to see what i wanted. I used Tmpge with Kdvd,(i think i used 1/2 loop it is the 6 hour bloack one) it looks good , but i had that macroblocks alot . Then u sed Tmpge express with Xdvd and with out. Both looked good but with Macroblocks. I used Winavi , again looked good but with Macroblocks , and last i used dixvtodvd look really good but without macroblocks. Again i didn't have much time to look over them because i have company coming over. So if i could get some help on using tmpge( i like it alot) to get rid of macro blocking that would be cool

  11. I forgot to say that with KDVD i didn't get any sound either. With DVD Shrink or with other Shrinking programs i can shrink down 45% with out super huge quality lost, and make bigger size , and better qaulity video files. I used TMpge plus alot a while back to make SVCD, VCD.

  12. Half D1 or even 352 x 240 with MPEG-2 encoding. Then run ReJig on the MPEG-2 file. ReJig is far and away the best program for scrunching down an MPEG-2 stream without artifacts.

You should be able to squeeze 13 half-hour (24 minute) mpeg-2 files onto a single-layer DVD-R is you capture using Half D1, encode using VBR with reasonable settings (something like 100 min, 3000 av, 6000 max) and then ReJig the output so each half D1 MPEG-2 file is no larger than 400 megs.
