I have a number of videos stored in fully-compliant SVCD format for playback on my DVD player. I'm attempting to now convert some to other formats (DVD-compatible MPEG-2 and standard old VCD format) but am running into a few problems getting TMPGEnc to recognize the files.
Initially, I attempted to copy the MPG directly from the SVCD disc to my hard drive, which didn't work. Following advice I've read elsewhere, I "ripped" the file using VCDGear. This appears to create an SVCD-compliant MPG that the common players recognize (STHSVCD, WinDVD), and that is encodable with the usual authoring tools (VCDImagerGUI & Nero).
However: TMPGEnc doesn't recognize the file. This presents a problem when it comes time to reencode to another format. (Note that TMPGEnc DOES recognize original SVCD-compliant MPG files that I create, prior to authoring them to a CD-R.)
Surely I'm not alone on this -- have others managed to solve this problem?
Thank you,
Kevin
