Problems copying with LiteOn 411s, help is appreciated!

I have a 411s with firmware FSOH. I have used this same firmware for the past 8 months or so, with no reason to update or change as it has worked for me. Just recently I have tried to copy some DVD's I had taped with my LiteOn 5005 recorder. I was not having any success using DVD Shrink or DVD decrypter, but thought it might have been something with the 5005, as I had read people had been having "some" problems. This morning I tried copying a DVD that we had purchased, to eliminate the 5005 as part of the problem. I used DVD shrink 3.2, and after the "encoding" I selected the "backup", the target and source were as I wanted them, and when I selected to continue, this is the error message I recieved...."DVD Shrink encounted an error and cannot continue, Failed to write file "E.\DVD.VIDEO.ISO".....So does this tell you guys anything I need to check? I have ran so many "spyware" and "virus" programs the past few weeks, I thought perhaps I had deleted some file, that I need for Shrink to work? I also tried to use DVD decrypter, alone, but it failed also(I cannot remember what error message I received). Anybody have any ideas? I would appreciate any help you can render!

convert your liteon 411 drive to a 811 drive by using the zebra mod. check out the LITEON FORUM at cdfreaks.com people there can help you out.

I thought about doing that in the past, but I dont think that would help "this" problem.(I could be wrong?) It doesnt matter if I try to copy iso to file, copy iso and burn with decrypter, or save to a video_ts file, I keep getting errors, saying shrink cannot write the file, so Im thinking there is some type of conflict somewhere, but Im sure not smart enough to figure it out, without some help, I even completely uninstalled shrink, and downloaded another copy and installed it, but still no luck. I even went and disabled every firewall, or spam, spyware, program I had, to see if that helped, still have same problem.

I converted my 411s to a 811s and downloaded the HSOR firmware. So far, so good, it is working,,now just to find the right reliable media.

i found the firmware HSOP works well for me. good to hear you did the ZEBRA MOD to convert the 411 to 811. if the drive doesn't work out well you could always use it to do KPROBE SCANS. i use mine for that sometimes.

I upgraded my 401s to the 411 then to the 811. I was kind of worried about reflashing the drive with the 811 latest firmware. Should I??

Try using HSOP firmware and see how that works for you. It would also depend on the brand of dvd media you're going to use.

What advantage is the HSOP over the HSOR? Right now I am using Ritek R03's currantly, until I finish off this stack!(about 50 more to go),,Then Im going to start on some FUJI (TY's).

Use whatever firmware that will work for you. As I have mentioned the HSOP firmware worked best for me. Post your question at the LITEON FORUM at cdfreaks.com. At the time I converted my 411 to 811 drive the firmware HS0P was the best to use for me because I burned DVD-R media. You can flash the drive to the HS0P firmware and do a few burns with the RITEK's you have and if they don't burn well then flash it to the HS0R. In my experience with dvd burning there is no exact science. Use what works for you. If you're going to use DVD-R TAIYO YUDENS on your drive, they may not be the best to use even though TY is the good quality media. If you're going to use DVD+R TAIYO YUDEN then you shouldn't have any problems. Remember that LITEON DRIVES tend to like DVD+R media than DVD-R which is a known fact. Good luck!

Yes, Ive found out my drive likes the +R media better, so that's all I ever purchase.
