  2. Ahhhghgh! I'm getting frustrated here.

I go through those instructions exactly and get as far as trying to connect the Moonlight Muxer to the Moonlight Demuxer -- video works fine, but no matter what settings I try (and I've tried them all) I can't get audio to connect (keep getting a "we can't make the filter parameters match" or some such).

I wonder if this is because I have the most current Moonlight version -- it looks a little different than the example (for one thing it actually says "Moonlight Elecard MPEG2 Demuxer" instead of just "Elecard MPEG2 Demuxer". But I really am stuck here, so any help would be appreciated.

  3. Okay, I'm making a *little* more progress but would still appreciate help. By using the Moonlight Odio Dekoda that "comes with" the Tivo stream I was able to get the audio to feed properly into the Muxer, and indeed able to even dump out a file -- however, the file ended up with an extension of .ASF and even when I renamed it to MPG and tried importing it to Encore I got a message that it was not the proper format type.

I still feel I'm drowning here but ever so close to shore...

  4. Hey BJ_M I see that you are in Canada. Can Tivo be used on any of the available services in Canada?

  5. Well, since no one is interested in my progress so far, I'll note it's clear the problem is with the TiVo source -- even using Main Concept's demux (with no parameters except input and video and audio out) I get a video of 480x480.

So it appears that the .TIVO format is actually recorded in SVCD, and using a demuxer can only demux to that stream (which doesn't do any good for DVD). I could translate this, but since that will result in the loss of quality it seems to me the whole point of this exercise is meaningless.

(And in case the original poster asks, Yes I tried "DVD" for compatibility with the Moonlight Demuxer and that didn't do any good -- as I said, it's pretty clear that the original source is recorded as 480x480).

My advice -- forget TiVo to go and just record in real time using your DVD recorder.

I had the same problem and had to play with this for ages to get it to work right - it works great for me now.

The order in which you change the options in the M71 Muxer are very important or it won't work. The original instructions don't tell you that, nor do they tell you everything you need to know.

    Here's how I do it:

    1. Make sure you are using the Moonlight-Elecard MPEG2 Demultiplexer and the Moonlight M71 Muxer. Get these via the XMuxer Pro demo per the original instruction (I can't speak to configuring other filters).
    2. Click on Transport Stream - change type to Program Stream
    3. Click on the Program and add a stream.
4 Click on Stream 0 and set stream type to MPEG2 - Video
    5. Click on Stream 1 and set stream type to MPEG1 - Audio
    6. Click on Program Stream and make compatibility to DVD
    7. Exit out and repaint the figures in the graph (the button with the two arrows).

Your audio should now connect when it didn't before.

Continue to follow the instructions - add the dump filter and create a file name for the output. When everything is connected in GraphEdit, hit the green play button and let it chug away!

I will note that not every app under the sun likes the resulting MPEG output, but pulling it into Pinnacle Studio Plus v9 and Ulead DVD Moviefactory 2.5 work and allow me to edit and create the DVD files from the MPEG. The resulting DVDs look pretty good (although I have to use Shrink DVD to compact DVD files that go past 4.7 GB.).

    Good luck!
