  1. I have a bunch of avi file (about 30) that I want to join then combine into one big mpeg2 file that I can use to author into 1 DVD movie. The problem is the avi files are of different sizes and frame rate (23.3, 29, 25 fps), and sizes (320x240, 512x350... etc), all close to 4:3 ratio.

Usually I would append them all together in Virtualdub, then convert with TMPGenc then author. The problem is virtual dub won't append different sizes or fps. So then I figured I would individually run them thru Tmgenc and set them at all the same size and fps. I then have a mpeg joiner which joins them up but then when I try to split (into m2v and mp2) for use in DVD Maestro (my favorite authoring package) , it only splits the very first movie or inital avi file. In other words if I have 30 avi files now combined into 1 big mpeg file the output to m2v and mp2 is only 1/30 the size (the first avi file).

Any suggestions on how I can combined mpeg files into 1 big m2v+mp2 file or another way of combining 30 avi files of different size and fps...

    Thanks, any advice is appreciated...

ps. I guess I could use maybe some other authoring tool, but I really like the power and versatiliy of dvd Maestro, I feel I can pretty well do anything my heart desires with this package, where so many other packages I have tried are not very flexible or don't compress the audio properly. But if there is a package that you really like that is powerful and flexible please let me know...

  2. You can use ReJig (File Mode and then demux) to create m2v and mpa files from multiple mpg inputs with the same file characteristics. You can also use ReJig to author but I've never used it so I can't comment on it's effectiveness

You can use Avisynth to frameserve multiple non-alike avi files to an mpg encoder. Fairly complicated if you don't know how to use it though
