Not sure if this has been done, but I thought it was interesting enough to share it...

Count the "F's" in the following text within 20 seconds (No cheating):

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE-

SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIF-

IC STUDY COMBINED WITH THE

EXPERIENCE OF YEARS...

Then go back and take your time...how many did you first count?


If you know the reason why we can you didn't get it right, please say?

it's cause when you go thru it fast you're looking more phonetically for an F and you totally miss the "ofs"

'course i didn't miss 'em coz i had a whole buncha time left on my 20 second marker

or i'm wrong

That's terrible....
"Oops, sir you cannot count all the F's in a sentence in 20 seconds, you are totally unfit to work here."

Here is the trick. The instructions say count the "F"s not to read the sentences. Just scan each letter with your eyes. I didn't time it but I would guess that it only takes a couple of seconds.
