Unlikley. After all TmpGenc is short for "Tsunami Mpg Encoder"
The article says "TMPG joins the international community at large in support for the victims of the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami. To show our support, for each TSUNAMI MPEG DVD AUTHOR purchased through the retail channel, TMPG will make a donation to the relief and rebuilding efforts in the affected areas in South Asia."
Worst product name of the moment

  3. The trial version of the retail boxed "Tsunami" dvd author is located at a different website to add to the confusion:

    http://www.tmpg-inc.com/

I"m not a big fan of tmpg's dvd author (due to lack of spiffy menus) but to bundle an encoder/author/ac3 convert all-in-one for under $50 is definitely a steal. Will have to check this out.

There are many ways to measure success. You just have to find your own yardstick.

I understand that this just an introductory price to get a foot hold on retail shelves.

Does it require the periodic validation over the internet? If not, consider another one sold...

What does that mean? Can I give it a wav and have it crank out an AC3 file? And use that with another authoring application like DVD Lab?

Yes, but that's based on the same ac3enc.dll as besweet right. Not Dolby certified. ecost don't like APO addresses...

No, I think that the dll used in this version is either patched or rewritten. At least that's what I've heard... give it a try & let us know .

maybe they can name it after some other natural disasters

    how about tornado, or thunder?

    Or inappropriate post?
Well I'll turn it appropriate by noting:
TSUNAMI is a great name because of "REMEMBERIBILITY" (is that a word?)

who would remember the "Lightning Encoder" ?
Oh! What a marketing genuis I'm becoming..Now where do I trademark this thing.....

The answer to this riddle was posted way back at the start of this thread. Pegasys has since long ago a product named Tsunami - TMPGEnc. (Tsunami Mpg Encoder). Known to most people in the business, it'd be a waste not to keep that name.
    TDVDAut? Na....

  14. It's $49.88 + $5.95 shipping and a $20 mail in rebate for a total of $35 out the door at J&R.com right now. They got their supply back in today.
