  1. Is there any way to print DVD covers so that it fits into a CD case? I store all of my DVDs in slimline cases and would like to print covers for them. However, all of the scans out there are (naturally) for the larger DVD cases. I don't want to resize the scans down since then I would have large white borders on the covers.

One option is to print the VCD cover scans out there, but I find that generally the VCD covers aren't as nice as the original DVD covers.

    Any ideas?

I believe you can get slimline dvd cases, so that may be an option worth considering.

But as for turning a rectangular cover to a square one, no real way unless you are happy with borders down the side of the image.

Boomer, I use slimline cd cases as well, and my solution was to buy an epson r300 printer and print labels on my rewritable DVDs so I can see what the film is through the transparent case

I use a program called Irfanview to crop DVD covers to fit CD jewel cases. You ussually find an area to crop and the program allows you to resize for proper fit.

I use adobe photoshop to trim as much off top and/or bottom to maintain proper aspect ratio of cover and import these pictures to my cd label program(cd stomper?). Sometimes you can't trim it enouigh, the program will reshape to fit. so images are sometimes squished vertically. I use full thickness cd cases so I can browse the titles from the side. You could also add color to the white borders to match the cover and make the borders less obvious.

I also store all my backups in slim cd cases. I usually take the dvd cover and import it into paint shop pro and crop it to a part of the cover which looks best. sometimes I have to move the title around so it fits the cropped area. On some covers if they have a simple black or white background I just put the entire cover and fill the background with white or black, so far I'm satisfied with all my covers. If you want it to look good you have to do it manually.

I use acdsee to crop the DVD cover image, and then Pinnacle exPressit to print the slimline CD case insert.

  10. I create all of my DVD and CD labels on an Excel spreadsheet, which is pretty flexible as to colors, fonts, borders, etc.. I print the label and then trace the shape I need to fit a jewel case by using the the cardboard insert that comes with a lot of CDs.
