I own one handgun, couple of shotguns and a few rifles. I use the shotguns and rifles for hunting. I will hunt just about anything that moves. These days my hunting is very limited, the kiddo is kind of taking up mine time, but that is okay with me.

Viral,
Are you SURE there are no shootings in the City since the younger Daly otlawed them?
And, C10, these people should be charged with a State or Federal Felony. If they bought a firearm illegaly, they are just as guilty as a Mafioso with a felony record trying to buy. OOPS, there ain't none of them in Chicago, are there?
I'm in the wrong place to speak of this, and politick is not much better, these days.
But those of yunz who think that removing a means of self-defence is a good thing, well, good luck, pipple. When they take your baseball bat away from you, as has been suggested here as a better option, whatcha gonna use? A frozen porkchop? (I get razzed when I mention the infamous "leg'o lamb")
Cheers,
George -

Every firearm legally purchased here must have a federal form filled out.
They ask such tricky questions as " "Have you ever been convicted of a felony", or "Are you now using drugs"
All my guns have been legally registered except one, and it was inherited ...so no form.
At least if they ever come door-to-door with the registration forms in hand, wanting to confiscate them, they won't know about that one -
yea -- i know about those forms .... about as useful as used notebook paper ....
I have filled out only few for stuff purchased in usa instead of Canada (legally ok to bring back over the border). Though walking into customs at the border with a rifle in your hand is always a hoot -- you see some people diving for cover (true) when you pull it out of the case
so they can check the serial number ..
specially my mini 30 which looks kinda like this - but my stock doesnt fold and i have a big fat aimpoint mounted on it ...
... taking a handgun across is also sometimes a experiance (also legal in some cases) ...
the registration system here is totally fubar'd. In many ways ..."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
Registration forms? What are those?
seriously...never seen one.

It's a typo. I have 2 shot guns. a 10 & 12 My rifle is a .22
I think there is a 22 gauge shot gun though, or 20 gauge. Haven't looked in a while. I got my guns. I just ask for the ammo. What's funny is when I have people over and they want to look at my guns, I'll bring them out and say, Now where's the saftey on this thing. Always get raised eyebrows over that. -
Gauges of shotguns the last time I checked:
4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 28,
And there was a special small size shotgun bore based on the English system utilizing decimal inches, similar to legacy US ammunition - the .410
The 4 and 6-gauge were ship-mounted anti-shark guns ...not shoulder weapons
The 8-gauge with a slug was also called an "elephant gun" by some old-timers. -
