  1. Using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink to backup DVD's. Did a few already and deleted the files off my hard drive (DVD_Video File Folder). However, also in D: drive I have the following:

    DVD_VIDEO.ISO 4,571,792 KB ISO File
    pagefile.sys 1,024,000 KB System File

When I double-click the ISO, it opens DVD Decrypter. Double-click System file tells me I could damage my computer by doing anything. What should I do? Seems like A LOT of KB on my computer that I should get rid of.

  2. The ISO is an exact image of a DVD disc, you can delete it unless you want to make another copy of whatever disc it is (you could burn it with Decrypter).

DON'T try to delete the pagefile.sys, it is a system file.

I don't so I'm going to get rid of it. Do I just right click/Delete the entire file?

Isn't this taking up A LOT of space on my hard drive? Is there no way to lose it? And is there a setting on either DVD Decrypter and/or DVD Shrink that won't make this copy/copies?

Your pagefile.sys is paramount to your windows install running properly. If you delete it, you'll have to reinstall windows ... so I wouldn't delete it
    If in doubt, Google it.

It is where your virtual memory is stored, think of it as extra RAM on your hard drive (you're going to want this...). If you actually put your information in your user profile , I could tell you if it is excessively large, although that is probably about the proper size for the amount of RAM on your computer.

  6. Thank you Jim and Steve. Leaving the system file AS IS .

As for the ISO file, right click/delete?

right clik-delete, then empty your recycle bin, or just hold <shift> down, then press <delete> on your keyboard when you have just the ISO file selected. This will bypass the recycle bin and delete the file permanently.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Will do and thanks.

Question please. Why do the files go to BOTH DVD_Video - File Folder and DVD_VIDEO.ISO - ISO File?

Maybe DVDShrink needs to copy the files to your hard drive first, then it makes the ISO file from the hard drive files ?

I burn with Nero, so I've never experienced this
    If in doubt, Google it.

  11. robnyt, here's how I do it, it works very well and is simple.

Put the disc in, open it with DVD Shrink. Do your deep analysis on the disc if you intend to, then set your compression settings up and choose your AEC setting, again if you choose to use AEC ('sharp, smooth' etc. settings). Choose to backup the disc as an ISO image, it will write a single ISO file to your hard drive as it backs up the DVD.

Once Shrink is done creating the ISO file, start DVD Decrypter and select 'ISO write' mode. Open the ISO that Shrink just created and burn it with DVD Decrypter. Done.

Once you're done burning the disc, you can delete the ISO file, obviously.
