  1. I am completly new to all these new digital video cameras and everything. Ive seen them around just never used one. My brother, me and some friends are going to make an import tuning street racing dvd. Im just seeing if anyone has any pointers/tips on what camera to get or if the have any advice on making such a film. I was looking at the optura 300 mini dv. Im looking for somthing that will take nice shots of cars that are going fast, nice shots of being in a car looking at other stuff, nice shots when its nite time and the only light would be street lights or other headlights, and somthing that can have other lenses/ attachments on it. Im also not really looking to go over $1,000. Ive found the optura used for like 480 with like a tripod, case, extra battery, all the stuff that comes with it originally, a cleaning kit, and a uv lens. I thought that seemed like a good deal. Just let me know if anyone has any ideas/ tips/ suggestions. Thanks.

You not going to find something like that for under $1000 or even $2000 unless you find one used. Try www.camcorderinfo.com lot's of good info there.

DV camcorders don't like low light, even when you get up into the $3,000 range like the Sony DCR-VX2100. For what you want to do (and get a decent looking result) you want to be looking at a minimum of a pair of Sony PD170 camcorders and remote mics. That's blown your budget slightly though.....

  4. Duckman...I would suggest getting any camcorder with a video and audio input, and then buy an on board camera/mic from On board bike camera's (OBBC). Do a search for it on the net. i use his tiny camera's for when im flying and for on board bike footage and his stuff is top notch, im sure he would be able to help you out with choosing a camera too.

    All the best
