Sorry for the dumb question but here goes:
regarding capture from VHS
Reading posts in this forum I understand that bitrate determines file size and that a 3 Mbps bitrate @ 352x480 is better quality video than 3 Mbps bitrate @ 720x480.
That said, if the end result is to burn onto a DVD for playback, won't it be the same in the end because the 352x480 capture will have to be blown up to 720x480 for viewing on the TV? So it would be the same as capturing @ 720x480 at the same bitrate?
Or does capturing at the lower resolution @ 3 Mbps and then expanding it for DVD viewing still better than capturing at the higher resolution to begin with?
Also what bit rate is ideal for 352x480 for avg. and max. bitrate with minimal loss of quality
Sorry for the newbie questions...
Thanks.

No, nothing is "blown up". The tv itself cannot even seen 720x unless it's a special high-res model (HDTV, etc). Some of this is hard to explain. The simple answer is "NO".

Thanks. So sounds like if I want to capture at that bitrate, then I'm better off at the lower resolution.
