  1. How would I make a virtualdub script file, to load virtualdub settings and then loop a command for X number of files?

  3. You can use job control in VirtualDub to do batch processing, by ticking the option to add each task to job control rather than running it straight away when you go to Save AVI. F4 will take you to the job control list.

    If you want to be more automated than that, I'd personally look at AviSynth instead; I'm not aware of a lot of automation features in VirtualDub.
