  1. I have been having problems with Xvid oversizing on my second pass and have been struggling to figure out why it has been doing this.

    1) Is it true that if the second pass is larger than the first would have been, you can get oversized files because of the overflow settings? I read in another posting that "Second pass larger than the first and the default overflow settings cause too many quant 1's to be encoded resulting in a too larger filesize." I just want to know how accurate that is.

    2) I just did, for the first time, a "Full Quality First Pass" and got a file size that is much smaller than I thought it would be. It is an Angel episode ripped from a DVD. A full 42 minute episode wound up at 230 MB (with no audio - I do that later) at FULL QUALITY. Not like I'm complaining, because it looks great, but is this normal? (Just as an additional note - I used an avs script to resize it to 640x360) In XViD stats, it wound up at about 700 kbps. I was discarding my first pass, and doing my second pass at a Target Bitrate of 1000 kbps, so this might prove the theory in (1) right.

Any elightenment would be very helpful.

    1) about the overflow settings. Yes it is true.
    2) You could use a higher quality quant matrix or a higher resolution. Also you can get the first pass filesize from the stats file.

  4. The first pass file size from the stats file is the same as the full quality first pass. I'm just worried that it's too small... but I assume its OK
