    Hi!
i have a movie of a few hours which i wanna change into a very shorter video by sampling every few seconds or even minutes (something like a security cam) i only need a frame every few seconds? how can i do it?
can i get the output as a movie, or just still pictures?

    thanks,
    Tzvika

use decimate in virtualdub or avisynth ..

you can chop it and decimate the number of frame to any amount

thanks, it does the job but not the way i intended.. it leaves the movie in it's original length simply changing it's fps - i need to also reduce the movie's lenght - keeping the same fps... ?

Try AVISynth's selectevery() filter. You could also add assumefps(original fps) after your other filter.

i did exactly that - decimated by a 100 and got a file exactly the same time length with each frame "freezing or about 4 seconds - than it jumps 100 frames forward... is that option suppose to also shorten the movie time ?
