The program seems to want to cut the first few seconds of the file I want to convert. Any idea how to prevent that? Is that the movie offset tab? Any help appreciated...

Sorry, I don't have a clue. This is a bump to see if you figured it out or if someone else does know.

Now I have two anniversaries I celebrate! -
I got around it by using DVD Author to make a small DVD compliant file, setting the beginning and end points in that and then converting with DVD2SVCD. If I use the DVD-Mpeg file, I get the first few seconds clipped even when I set the program for no offset! Just palin weird...
