  1. Is it just me ?? or is there something wrong.
Video bitrate is now 1265 default - when i add a dvd movie,
and video parameters are 640x352 ??? autosize 16;9

In the old version, bitrate was about 2300 !

  2. I can now see my old avi files are 720 x 576
    in the video parameter 4:3.

    But if i select 4:3 i only get 640 x 480 ????

  3. 720x576 is TV non square-pixels size. It should be converted to 640x352 square pixels for viewing it in 16:9 ratio on your computer. Best bitrate for 640x352 is 1265. And if you crop it will be 640x272 with 2.35:1 aspect ratio.

  4. "720x576 is TV non square-pixels size. "

what do you mean with non square-pixel size.

"It should be converted to 640x352 square pixels for viewing it in 16:9 ratio on your computer. Best bitrate for 640x352 is 1265. And if you crop it will be 640x272 with 2.35:1 aspect ratio."

Sorry - but best size for 16:9 pal tv is 720x400 !!!
The bitrate, most be about 2300 - to get highend picture quality.

Please correct me ! if im wrong

  5. 720x576 is a proper PAL 4:3 size. So, it sounds like your source is a 4:3 PAL movie, and you want to crop it to a 16:9 ratio. Correct? The reason for 640x480, is because that is the proper NTSC 4:3 size (square pixels), and 720x480 would be the proper NTSC 4:3 non-square (rectangular) size. Now, for a DVD, even for PAL I believe, you would want to crop, and set your size settings to 720x480 with the DVD 16:9 option set. Even though you will be encoding to 720x480, which is not a 16:9 ratio, by setting the 16:9 option in ffmepgX, it will display at 720x404, and play back anamorphically on a DVD player. As far as bitrate, yeah, just manually set whatever bitrate you wish to use to maximize your space.

  6. Okay - i get your point. But then i thing there is a bug in the s version. Because if i change pal to ntsc. The size is not changing in video size ???.

  7. It is technically possible to encode NTSC size with PAL framerate. Choose DVD again in the autosize popup, and the size will change to match the framerate.
