I have a Sony DV and it needs cleaning and it's hard to find the Sony cassette DVM-12CLD in a shop here. It's easier to find a panasonic for example. Does it matter which brand I use?
I've had the cam for one year and I've shot about 13 hours of film.
Cheers,
Mats

Does not make a difference in Brand names, Why don't you save money & clean it yourself. Alcohol & a Q-Tip!

DON'T use those tapes, they are HiGHLY abrazive.
use the above, and clean the rubber rollers and head, which you guessed.
don;t forget to turn the head -

Radio Shack sells a MiniDV cleaning tape that is less abrasive than most.
Have you been using multiple brands of MiniDV tape? It is best to pick one brand and stick with it. I have recorded over 30 JVC tapes in my JVC camcorder, which never complained about cleaning until I tried a Panasonic tape. Using the tape cleaner did not help the Panasonic tape, and the tape cleaning message disappeared when I went back to JVC tape.
