  1. After authoring an MPEG2/AC3 movie (generated by Womble), there was more space left on the disc than I expected. I re-extracted the movie using DVD Decrypter and demuxed it to compare the size of its video stream to that of the pre-authored master. Being run through TMPGEnc DVD Author Trial shrank it by 6 percent (~95 MB). Has anyone experienced the same thing?

  2. I decided to repeat the test on five different movies (2 professional, 3 homemade) of varying levels of resolution and compression. In all cases, the post-authored MPEG2 video stayed the same size. However, in each case the AC3 audio shrank by 1 kilobyte which perhaps is simply the result of some modification to the header. Maybe the video of my original test movie was corrupted and that caused the large size change.
