  1. Hmm, I am using a NEC 3520 and I successfully wrote a downloaded DVD-R ISO to a Verbatim DVD-R which plays fine...

I then made a copy of that DVD-R to another DVD-R (from and to the 3520) caching the disc on C: with nero... The copy does not play correctly, it bypasses the menu and freezes a few seconds into the film. I then copied the data to C: which worked (no read errors) and I tried to play it from there using PowerDVD - same problem (menu bypass and freeze). How can that be?

    Sounds like bad media

I am talking about the second disc.

  5. Yep, me to =) I copied the data manually from the second disk to the HD (VOB-file copy went fine using windows explorer). PowerDVD is getting the same problem playing from the second media and from the HD... if it was bad media I would have thought the disk would be unreadable at some stage?

Sounds like an authoring error with the copy, use dvd decrypter instead to copy to the hdd,why not just burn a second dvd with the original dvd files?
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  7. I deleted the ISO file and realized I wanted another copy so I had to make it off that DVD - I'll try using DVD Decrypter and see how it goes.

    Thanx

  8. This is strange, it's still happening, here's an update:

I managed to successfully copy the first DVD by using DVD Decrypter then writing it back using Nero to a new DVD...

But now I did the same process with another DVD, using DVD Decrypter to copy it back to the HDD, then use Nero to write it to a new DVD (at 8x which is the recommended speed for the verbatim disc, with verify on) and it successfully burned the DVD, but it freezes half way through - although after ripping it using DVD Decrypter it plays fine from the HDD and the NEC3520 hasn't produced a single coaster when initially writing ISO's, only once they are recopied like in the process described.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Thanx

Try using dvddecrypter to burn your iso images instead of nero. Easiest way to backup a copy. Iso read then iso write. Never given me any troubles.

  10. Thanx, freebird,

I just tried it and it worked this time, hopefully that'll keep working!

Great advice (and I also see that it is in the guides so shame on me)
