i transfered some episodes of gi joe to dvd from vhs, but the audio is not uniform. is there a way for me to normalize the audio in the vob format (so i don't have to convert to mpg, m2v, etc)?

if there is not a program to do this, does anyone have any ideas? like can i strip the audio from the vobs as one long ac3/mp3/wav file and normalize it? (like vts_01_1.vob - vts_01_x.vob as one, and vts_02 series as another)

i rellly don't want to have to play them all again just so i can put them on my computer.

    any help would be appreciated.

What format is the audio in ?

You can use something like muxman to demux the audio, however it depends what format it is in as to what you do next.

Demux the audio and convert it to stereo wav. Normalise with any audio app (I think audacity is free) and use BeSweet to encode back to AC3 2.0. Vegas is way overkill for this.
