I haven't encoded with widescreen before and am wondering if I can mix widescreen with standard 4:3 on the same DVD-R disc??

Also will this cause any problems with playback in terms of quality of anything. I have checked the widescreen footage on my PC and it looks fine, but I'm not sure how it will look on a non widescreen TV??

You need authoring tools that support using both. Ulead DVD workshop is one.

  4. TMPGEnc DVD Author can handle 4:3 and Widescreen as well as DVD LAB Pro. Both of them will use different titlesets for each. The basic version of DVD LAB will not as it is limited to a single titleset.

Differences in video quality shouldn't be an issue
