when i try to make a bin file i get an error. it reads the following:
INFO: scanning mpeg track #0 for scanpoints...
**ERROR: scanning error 0x16820000 2324
and i can't continue.
i try to make another bin file from a different mpg and i get another error:
INFO: scanning mpeg track #0 for scanpoints...
**WARN: mpeg stream will be padded on the fly -- hope that's ok for you!
**ERROR: packet length beyond buffer...
i assume this has to do with the mpg file size. the size is 183 Megs (yes megs - not kbs). is there any way for me to fix these problems?

183 megs should be fine. I can give you a "work around" but I can't tell you why it works. Try this:
Get "Chopper" here:
http://xerobyte.freeyellow.com/
It's an Mpeg editing program that doesn't do a very good job but it does something odd that may help your bin problem. This works for me so it just may work for you. Run your Mpeg through Chopper by simply loading it and cutting from the very first frame to the very last frame. It takes a couple of minutes to process the cut. The resulting file may no longer get the errors you have been getting. Like I said it works for me but don't ask me why.
Good luck!! I'll play around with it some more and let you know if I come up with anything else.

nope... i installed it and when i try to "chop" it it says Run-time error 6 - Overflow. i do have the vb6 runtimes installed.
when i watch the mpg it is finished but i tried it again and it said packet length beyond buffer. -
Sorry. I thought it might help. Are the Mpegs original captures or rips? How did you capture or rip? Any subsequent reencoding? Have you edited them to their present state or are they your original caps or rips? If so which editing program did you use?

I've never seen that error before... Is your MPEG actually VCD compliant?

Your MPEG doesn't have the correct pack size. Don't worry about what this is. As long as your MPEG's specs are correct, then demultiplexing and remultiplexing your MPEG in a proggy that understands VCDs should fix it (e.g., bbMPEG, Xing, TMPGEnc, etc.)
