I'm getting a bit leery of Sony's DVD Authoring Studio application.
In using it to generate the ts_* folders for Nero, Nero has complained that it cannot "reallocate" the video files. Something about a file size block not equal to 16 or something.
And that the resulting video might not be playable.
? What the heck is Sony doing to my MPEG2 files?
I like some of the flexibility the application offers me. I also have TMPEG DVD Author as well. But that application won't let me put in slideshows or generate slideshows.

You indeed have a problem with Sony DVDA. I digitized a whole movie from VHS to Mpeg and authored it with DVDA. I was going crazy with the Nero error message when I stumbled upon the answer. Now I am going crazy looking for the link to that web page but any way...the problem is:
DVDA creates .vob files that are TOO BIG. They are only like 1 kb off but it's enough to ruin the show! Even if you did manage to burn a good disc you will have a very hard time ever trying to copy that DVD-R again. WindowsXP will simply choke on the .vob's.
The solution:
Take your VIDEO_TS folder and re-author it with DVD-Shrink. It doesn't take that long and works like a charm.
Now I'll back back to obsessing about that web page with the explanation. Why didn't I bookmark it?... -
Ok, I found something related to the page I once found here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;295579
I know we have a different problem than the one described but check your .vob file size. I bet one or more are too big. -
I've had that error message a few times.
I just burn anyway and have never had a problem with playback on several different DVD players. -
Yes, I have burned the DVD's right through that message but like I said, you might have problems re-ripping those .vob files if the need should arise at a later date and the DVD-R is your only backup.
As far as DVD-Shrink just re-author with no changes. It will just re-sort the files and fix their size. If your VIDEO_TS is under the DVD-R limit you should be fine with the automatic settings. -

and

The second screenshots show that DVDA is definitely making the "wrong" size .vob files. What a bummer!!! I don't think this software is based on the 2.0 version after all. Sony, do you read these threads?
As you can see I have to re-author in DVD-Shrink to get things going again. Incidentally, your DVD will play fine if you ignore the error message BUT forget about ripping your DVD-R ever again if you ever need to make a copy.
Hope this helps anyone with the same problem once and for all. Just use DVD-Shrink after you prepare in DVDA. It doesn't take that long at all.
