Hi. I just purchased a Sony RDR-VX500 and am really happy with the results. However, the user guide needs a lot of work. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way I can copy a VHS tape to DVD and create multiple chapters. For example, every 15 minutes, create a new chapter so that when I play the DVD, I can dump to various timeframes within the 2 hour DVD. Is this possible with this unit? Currently, I can copy the VHS to DVD and all I can get is the first frame for the 1 and only chapter. I'm not able to dump to another timeframe, such as in the middle of the DVD.
Thanks, Tom

I am having to return my JVC DVD/VCR combo and I am going to switch brands and one of the brands is the one you have, Sony RDR-VX500, I was wanting to know if when you edit if you can pause and still frame until you reach the exact point you want to edit. Does the time show like 3:31:18 or is it just 3:31. On the JVC you could keep hitting pause and it would move at an extremely slow pace so you could get a perfect edit, but I had replaced it with a toshiba brand of the same price and the only way you edited was by searching the times you wanted and the play and pause button was on the same button and everytime you tried to pause it would play first and then you had to hit it again to pause but it was horrible and the edits were impossible, so I am trading this one in to get one like the JVC editor. Also the JVC had a preview of the edit so you could see how they went together to get it absolutely perfect and this Toshiba one doesnt have that, when you hit delete IT'S GONE you can see a preview.
The price for the JVC and Toshiba was 399.00 but I am willing to way the extra 100.00 for the Sony RDR-VX500 if it has what i want on it.
Is there anything you don't like about the Sony? Is it reliable? The JVC was completely UNRELIABLE! It got impossible to do anything on it.
Please try to respond ASAP I need to send this toshiba back but I need to have my questions answered about the sony before I pay the extra 100.00
Question 1 - Is the editing done by the milisecond, does it get a perfect edit?
Question 2 - Does it have a preview of the edit so you see how it will be once you hit delete?
Thank you very much -
One more question,
When you record does it put up a box with the title and chapter? On the JVC if you recorded on DVD from tv and then edited the commercials at every edited spot it would have the title box pop up, but then if you recorded that same DVD on to a vhs it would have those same boxes but they were a bit blurrier. The toshiba does not have that title box that pops up when you record.
