The AVI file you have contains audio ripped from a DVD source which is sampled at 48kHz according to the DVD standard requirements. The (S)VCD compliant MPEG file you're trying to create with TMPGEnc needs audio at 44.1kHz in order to be compliant with the VCD specification.

You need to resample that WAV file you've created down from 48 -> 44.1kHz in order for TMPGEnc to accept it.

    Use GoldWave to do it.

  3. You cannot mux a wav file into MPEG, you're going to have to convert the wav into mp2 or back to ac3.

That sentence makes so little sense that I'm afraid it's very difficult to understand what you're trying to get at. Maybe English isn't your first language, in which case I'm sorry but I can't really help you other than to suggest you look around in the guides section to the left. There are plenty of illustrated step by step instructions there to do what I think you want to do.

  6. I have a .avi file which i am trying to convert to mpeg to put on a dvd.

I am trying to convert using tmpgenc but theres no sound i understand that theres a problem with the sound compression tmpgenc cant handle it.

So how can i convert it?

The file i am trying to convert has fraunhofer mpeg layer-3 codec compression sampled at 44100htz.

TMPGEnc won't do the audio for you then if you want it to go on a DVD. Use TMPGEnc to just make an elementary video stream (m2v file) and then use something else to make a similar elementary stream of the audio in AC3 format. Then when you author that to DVD format (VOB file) the two streams will be multiplexed back together and play as one.

The DVD format requires that there be at least one PCM or one AC3 audio track on it, so if you make the audio MP2 as you would for (S)VCD the DVD player won't play it, so you must make the audio AC3 @ 48kHz.

I'd use TMPGEnc Plus to make the video elementary stream and the TMPGEnc AC-3 Sound Plug-in to make the AC3 audio stream out of a WAV file extracted with and resampled to 48kHz with GoldWave. The I'd author the whole thing to DVD with DVD-lab Pro and burn it with Nero.

There are plenty of guides at left that will show you how to do all that. If you have or can get those programs I've listed, then I suggest you search for guides on each of them.

  11. It sounds to me like you either do not have that audio Codec installed or the installation of it is damaged.

The only audio format I've had that TMPGenc Plus won't convert is AC3 or one that I don't have the codec installed for.

I've gone from 44.1 to 48 khz all the time converting doifferent files.

Your last error message from Goldwave even says no Codec installed.

    Good Luck

  12. I have installed and registered the tmpgenc ac3 plugin would it use this plugin for goldwave? Or do i need a different plugin?

    Whats a good ac3 plugin? [/i]

  13. Simply put, forget AC3 at this point.

First you need to find out what audio codec is needed. Go to the tools menu on the left and get G-Spot to find what audio codec is needed. And go back to VirtualDub open the source file, then streams, and see what it says the audio type is. If AC3 or MP2 just demux the audio, I've been successful using those AC3 as the audio source in TMPGenc DVD unless it is a movie that was split into to parts then you will have to do some searching here. I've seen a guide that tells how to do it so that the audio comes out correctly on slipt AVIs. You are having troubles due to no codec installed.

Also TMPGenc Plus won't use AC3 Audio even with their own AC3 codec. That works with their DVD author or TMPGenc Xpress.

    Cheers
