another newbie question

after all editing is done--what program can i use to get a avi file back to the camera on tape? is this possible at all?

You need a TV Out or a VGA -> TV converter which you connect with your tape recoder and play your edited file with any player and fullscreen.

I am not sure but I heard that it is possible to copy with fireware cards directly the edited dv into the digital camcoder. I can't tell you how it works because I haven't a digital camcoder.

If you are using a DV camera with firewire card:-
Sonic foundry's Video Capture (supplied with Vegas Video) has a function to print to tape which transfers an AVI digitally back to your DV camcorder.
BUT I havn't managed to get it working yet
