Hi, does anybody have any good tips on making a loop WAV? I have this one melody in WAV format so I used Cool Edit Pro to cut out the end part so that it loops. It should loop correctly but since the melody is 2 minutes long, I didn't want to go through the entire thing to see if it loops correctly. So I used Winamp and set the REPEAT to on. It did loop in the correct area but there was a hitch. There's like a very very small pause. How do I get rid of this and play it smoothly? I've tried cutting and pasting the first note of the melody to the last note but it just sounds doubled with the addition of the hitch. Any help is appreciated![/list]

First of all, that is MUCH Too long of a loop. Secondly, try trimming from the quiet at the START of the song for the loop to sound smoother.

for doing a quick check - select the whole wave. copy it (ctrl-C), go to the end of the wave and paste the copy (ctrl-V).

now set the cursor near the end of the first wav, and let it play past the paste point - if it hitches, either the beginning or the end of the wave needs to be re-cut.

as for how to get it to loop smoothly, it's an art, and it takes time and good ears. the only technical suggestion that I can give you is, take a close look at the wave file at the beginning and the end - try to cut so that the wave is as close to zero amplitude as possible, otherwise you'll hear hitches.

When I use that pasting technique, it sounds REALLY smooth, no hitches! So could Winamp be the problem? That's weird.

There may just be a minute pause before Winamp starts the track over again. Maybe you will get better results in another player.
