  1. Hello,

I would like help from people who have ordered the Philips DVP642 from www.amazon.com. Amazon also says this item qualifies for free shipping.

What I would like to know is what method of shipping does it comes by? Is is US postal service, UPS, Federal Express, etc?

I would very much appreciate 4 or 5 responses to get an accurate idea because I want to ship this to my brother's house and he can't receive US Post at his house.

    Thank you very much,

    Giannid

  3. Thanks Boroda for the reply.

I wrote to Amazon and got a long message that kind of answered the question. They say they use multiple carriers and not anything specific unless a PO Box is used - then it's either USPS or Airborne.

I'm still not sure if I can send it as a gift, with a different billing address and name, to a PO Box and have it still qualify for free shipping.

Here is what they wrote me:

We do ship to post office box addresses. Our standard domestic packages are delivered by several shippers: the U.S. Postal Service, UPS, FedEx, and Airborne Express. A package may be delivered by any one of these carriers unless a PO Box address is specified.

If you wish to use a PO Box address as the shipping address, please enter the box number exactly as follows:

    PO BOX (NUMBER)

When the shipping address is a PO Box, the order can be sent only via U.S. Mail or Airborne. Airborne takes these shipments from our fulfillment centers and delivers them to the local post office closest to the destination, where either the package or a pickup notice will be placed in your PO Box.

You will find our complete shipping options, including costs and delivery times, in the following section of our Help pages:

    http://www.amazon.com/help/ship/

If your shipping address has a PO Box in it, we will only offer standard shipping as an option.

We currently use UPS, Airborne, FedEx, and the U.S. Postal Service for standard domestic shipments, depending on the weight of the package and the distance it has to travel from our fulfillment center.

Unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee a specific shipper. If the shipping address is a P.O. Box, however, the order can only be sent via U.S. Mail or Airborne. Airborne takes these shipments from our fulfillment centers and delivers them to the local post office closest to the destination, where either the package or a pickup notice will be placed in your P.O. Box.

  4. Okay, I followed their advice and wrote the PO Box like they said,
    "PO BOX ###"
    and it worked.

I had the choice of free shipping (5-9 business days) or standard shipping (3-5 business days). It cost under $67 with free shipping.
