  2. This might be a challenge. Here are the thoughts that first come to mind.
    • What type of PDA, Palm or PocketPC?
What media player do you want to use?
How much memory does your PDA have, or, how will the video be accessed? Memory card? what size?
      does quality matter?

My first guess on answers is:
Pocket PCs are starting to come with media players, and sony Clies also play media files. I think Mpeg-4 would be the most likely candidate (h.264?) for a format.

I think the screen resolutuion on PDAs is 320X240, so bring in the movie, and convert to a 320X240 Mpeg-4 AVI with stereo or Mono sound. The finished file would have to be under 500 MB to fit on the largest card that the average PDA can read.

I have never tried this, but that would be my first stab at it.

Let us know how it works out!

You could try PocketDivX Encoder to make your avi files. Then play on the PPC with Beta Player.

I don't think that PocketDivX Encoder will rip a DVD though, you will need DVD Decrypter or SmartRipper or some other ripping program.

I have used DVD Decrytper -> PocketDivX Encoder -> Beta Player on iPAQ 3765 and it seems to be alright.

  4. Dr Divx offers a mode for going to pda.

I have used it for my Ipaq 3970 and it worked great.
