  1. Hi:

I have spent hours in this site searching for an answer to my question, however, no luck and I am still confused. So, there is no other option but to ask you (experts) about this.

The question is: If I encode my videos with TMPGEnc first to DVD and then author them with NVE, will NeroVision Express re-encode them again? I have read that the new version have a "Smart encode" option that prevent the files to be encoded if they are already compliant. Is this true?

I have also read that the MPG2 conversion is better if you do it with TMPGEnc than with NVE.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  2. NVE seems to re-encode everything, even if it's totally dvd compliant beforehand.
I don't know if NVE 3 has an option to turn this off or not.
Most of us use tmpgenc dvd author or dvdlab to author our stuff, and nobody seems to like NVE for much of anything.
tmpgenc does do a better job of encoding than NVE and keeps audio in sync MUCH better.
