  1. I seem to have a problem with writing DVD-R disks on a Samsung TS-H552B. The drive recognizes them ok, but some standalone DVD players
won't recognize the disks (eg Pioneer717). The same file written using
    the same brand\batch of 8x DVD-R on a Pioneer 105 ( or was it an 104?)
works perfectly on all standalone players I've tried.
Using latest firmware [T06] for the Samsung.
Anyone else have this problem ?

    Thanks
    Ian

hi there ive got the same drive and yes they are fussy about media. i test on 5 standalones and one of them (phillips dvd623) picks up every little error.
so far my most sussesful burns are using datawrite greys fujifilm02 and datasafe white cmcmagae1(i think) even with these the phillips sometimes spits them out where the cheapo pacific will play them spot on.
tried a ritec go4 that is also hated by the phillips but great on the others.
btw my drive hates the prodiscso4 they wont load on anything.
im going to the computer shop again tommorow and luckely they sell single discs so i will get another test batch (datawrite platinums for definate) i will let you know how they perform.
ps im using clone cd -any dvd and burn at 4x

  3. Datawrite 8x greys -Rs were what I was using too.
Was wondering if the Samsung was doing something
really stupid like treating the -Rs as +Rs when burning....
Oh well, bring on the Pioneer DVR-109 - dual layer
    -R at last... !
