I am trying to split V: The Series disc 1 to two discs with original menu.

But the PGCs are a mess- everything seems to be lumped in together.

I tried to post an ifoedit screen shot, but I can't get that to work.

I've tried ifoedit, vob blanker and dvdfab but nothing works. Has anybody successfully split any of these discs?

Thanks for the reply. I will give it a shot if I can find the prog. I put it on a disc before my last HD format. I'm not sure where it is.

you will find the programs if you just click the red links

DVDremake has a fully functional demo apart from it doesn't export but PGCedit is freeware

    Yes, using DVDRemake Pro

  6. Another way that works is to open up the files in DVDShrink. Take 1/2 of the video(s) and shrink them to still images and process, then open the files again and shrink the other half. This will give you 2 dvds with full menus. You may wish to note on the disk which has which full segments.

    Hi all

I recently did exactly this with my BBC Box of delights DVD 9. Tools used where DVD Decryptor (freeware) DVD Shrink (freeware), PGC Edit (Freeware), Menuedit (shareware but optional), imgtool classic (freeware)
This is just an overview not a guide (J.A.O.N.A.G.) so you may want to visit www.doom9.org and similar to read up on the use of shrink, menuedit or pgcedit.

    1. Ripped full disc with Decryptor into a folder called BOXOFDELIGHTSFULL

    2. Ran DVD Shrink and picked episodes 5,6 and all the extras, reduced these to a still black image - backed up to folder DISC1

    3. Ran DVD Shrink again **LOADED THE ORIGINAL DISC RIP NOT DISC1** this time picked episodes 1,2,3,4 and shrank to black still images backed up to folder disc2

** Now you can leave it at that and jump to step 6 to test, create your images and burn in decryptor. The problems are that picking a "removed" item will "play" up to 30 minutes of black video and selecting any play all option will play a *LOT* of still black video before your remaining episodes. If you want to avoid this you can do the following:

    4. Load up disc1 in menu edit, select the menus that refer to items you've blanked and remove them selecting the "jump to next available button" option. This way if you navigate the menu to a removed item it will jump to the next remaining item. Repeat this for disc 2

    5. You now have a choice. IF you are comfortable using pgcedit to "rewrite" the play all command then you'll need to take the following steps, if not then the best thing to do will be to go back into menuedit and remove the play all button option.

Still here, cool, you've played with pgcedit before right? No? Then read a guide on pgcedit first or this is going to sound like I'm speaking martian.

Right, I warned you [martian on] this is your chance to change the firstplay item etc to remove any intro's, warnings, threats that your cat will be coated in cheese if you copy this disc etc, etc.

Now scroll down in pgc edit and you will see the various PGC titles (the episodes) click on the first one and you'll be able to see a POST entry that checks one of the registers (which the play all command has set before jumping to the first title) what you need to do for disc 2 is change that jump command to happen as a PRE command and jump to the first episode that is left. For disc1 you'll need to find the last episode that's left and change the jump command to go to the main menu again (you can find the command as this will be in place on the last title) Once done save and test in a software player such as powerdvd.

If it all goes pear shaped at this point you can go into the disc1 folder and into the VIDEO_TS folder where you'll find a pgcedit save folder, copy these files back to the VIDEO_TS folder and your changes will be undone.

    [martian off]

    6. Test everything again in powerdvd and then run imgtool to create an image of your video_ts / audio_ts folders and burn with dvd decryptor. I'd suggest you use a DVD+-RW first just to be on the safe side before burning a coaster. Alternately you can use whichever flavour of burning software you use to burn video_ts folders normally.

As I said this is NOT an in depth guide, just an overview. It took me a fair old while to get the hang of this and I make my own home movie and TV show discs in DVD LAB PRO, you really do need to get your head around the code that the disc uses for navigation first before using PGC edit or else just remove the menu options using menuedit. Once you are comfortable with pgcedit this is a much faster way than ripping titles and recreating menus in a package such as DVD LAB PRO (the way I backed up my TNG box set) which takes forever in comparison.

    Cheers

    Thanks guys,

Sorry for not replying earlier. I do apreciate the replies and I don't want to seem ungrateful.

PGC Edit seems like the tool that will give me the best chance. Once I check out some guides and figure out how it works, I will post back.

As far as the DVD Shrink suggestion goes, when I open the disc in DVD Shrink (3.2) I just get one 7.4 GB file. It is impossible to encode individual eps because of the way the disc is structured. When I click on "Main Movie" in DVD Shrink, I get Title 1, 7-10. They are all lumped in together.

Anyway, I'll give it another shot.

    UPDATE:

I just split disc 1 using DVD Remake. I bought the program a while ago because I thought it would help me split a different movie. It choked on that one, so I didn't think it would help here. But it did.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Seen the "lumped together" problem as well.. hang on I just need to get the menu option....

    here is some hold music

la la leee lallaaaa leleeleeeeeee la la ....

Ah yes, when you have opened the disc in DVD shrink, click on view then untick combine shared titles. Now you should be able to blank out episodes and follow my overview.

    Cheers
