Is there a way to stop Cdex from overwriting a folder of the same name?
Heres what happened,
I use Cdex to rip all my CD's to use on my portable MP3 player, and I have a folder on my C: drive called MP3. Now I set Cdex to rip to that folder, and in there it creates folders by artist, and album names inside those.
So I had a folder already called Linkin Park, with the first album inside, and today when I ripped the second album, Cdex 'replaced' the folder with a new one called Linkin Park, with the new album in it. So I've lost the first one?
Never happened before, so what have I changed.
Normally I would expect something like "The folder Linkin Park already exists, do you want to replace Y/N?"
Anyone?

CDex would only do that if the name of the album folder was the same and all of the names of the songs were the same. Even if it's the same "Linkin Park" folder that it's ripping into, if the album name was differen and/or the song names were different then it would just put those in the proper folder and not overwrite anything. Could it have been something else? Maybe the first album had already been deleted somehow, but you just hadn't noticed it yet?

This may seem stupid, but are you sure it didn't create a new LP folder, maybe one with an apostrophe or a different spelling? Sometimes albums are listed differently (especially if they're submitted by users as opposed to companies).
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -
OK it's not a problem with Cdex, I think it's a windows setting.
It happened again today with digital photos from my cell phone.
My phone names pictures as Image001, Image002 and so on.
I use Bluetooth to transfer them to my PC, it puts them in "My Documents\My pictures"
I transfered some today and it replaced the old photos of the same name with the new ones without asking if I wanted to.
So what can I do?
BTW, I have Windows XP Pro.We'll be right back after these messages from Binford!
