I downloaded and purchased all of NERO's latest releases. The new Nero 6 Ultra and NeroVision 3. (along with recode, photoshow, etc.) The first two days I had it, it ran very smoothly. Even encoded, authored and burned a whole DVD without problems. Perfect. I love this software.
Now it opens fine, but as soon as I try to add a video file it acts like it's loading....and it just sits there. Then task manager tells me it not responding. Even if I let it sit there for 30 minutes, it doesn't move. I have tried many different files, so that cannot be the cause. Once in a great while, (1 of 15 times) it WILL load up the video file. Then I click on edit movie or make chapters. The display will switch to that view, but as soon as I try to do anything, it freezes again. I've tried unistalling it and using the NERO clean, driver-clean and reg-clean. Then re-installing it with the same problems. This only happens with the NeroVision. the regular burning rom and all other pieces work fine. WTF? I'm pissed.

Check what video related software and ulilities have you loaded/modified since first NeroVision installation. Looks like your import filters are corrupted / conflicting. You may need to reinstall a filter and/or software that comes with it. Possible way: check your mpeg codecs, remove and reinstall for example PowerDVD (will put mpeg codecs back).

Ok, I still haven't figured out the problem. However, it has gotten a little better somehow. Now roughly 1 out of 5 times the file loads up and allows me to edit it and create the chapters. Then I can ONLY encode and write to my hard drive. If I try to have it encode and then burn it directly to a disc I get a run time error at 99% complete. I have tried it several times and ruined several DVD-R's this way. So I just write it to the hard drive and then burn it using the regular Nero Burning Rom. Works perfectly. But still VERY temperamental. Any help?

Ok, now it's basically only freezing as soon as try to add a file. I pick out the file and click "open". The file size bar at the bottom will show the file size, but the file will not show up.....wait....wait.....frozen. Freezes there most of the time. What could be causing it to freeze in this particular spot?

Yeah. I'm still having the same problems and I'm still pissed. This stuff wasn't cheap. Feels like a kick in the balls ------>

At least I didnīt have to pay for it separately, it came bundled with my new PC. But I wonīt be buying anything from Nero in the future, thatīs for sure!

I used to have this problem. I fixed it by updating my version of xvid(the codec of the movie files that didnt work).

The way to test if it is Nero is to load into it MPEG file from say DVD rip (100% tested and pristine) and go through all the steps. From what I see it is probable that you are talking about downloaded AVI's that are notoriously corrupted. In that case blaming Nero's inability to patch a crippled video file is a bit of a stretch. Keep in mind Nero will attempt to and often succesfully output MPEG2 from DivX even with some structural problems but it cannot recreate missing frames. Just skip chapters if problem or fix the file first, reencode and see if chapters may be created. Nero inability to put chapters (which are frame indexed) indicates that there still are some lingering structural issues with your video. Not Nero's fault.

firebirdude,
Have you tried it with files you know DID work before? I've encountered a problem just like proxy described. Turned out one of the avi files in the compilation was corrupted, causing Nero Vision to crash. This happened hours into the compilation, so I had to read the logs to find out what file it was. But after I just didn't include the corrupted file, it went just fine.TANSTAAFL -
sooo...the same pr for me ...but ONLY with some avi's ...So i guess the ones theat freazes are corupted avi's ...can i fix them somehow ? To be able to use them with nerovision????
thanks a lot ! -
OK, now you're talking... try DivX repair DIVFix. I used it once only but it fixed the error. It won't perform miracles, it has it's limitations.
<<<---Tools, Video Repair -
proxyx99, I checked my avis with both DivFix and DivXRepair. None of them found corrupted files.
-
Same here ... tryed divx repair ...and my avi's are good ...no bad frames.... but still nerovision freazee when encoding them
-
Thanks a lot proxyx99 !!! Tryed the divx repair on my avi's wich froze nerovision and i get the response "no bad frames", but with this tool DIVFix igot some errors ,fixed the avi files and now they work in nerovision !!!

Try reinstalling DirectX. Fixed my problems with Nerovision crashing every time I tried to preview something (different problem, but who knows).
