i want to be able to convert some mpegs and stuff to divx in virtualdub. i also want to be able to convert the audio to mpeg layer-3 audio, to keep file sizes down while retaining as much sound quality as possible. however, when i try to convert the audio to mpeg layer-3 in virtualdub, under select audio compression, my choices are limited. my choices range from: 8kBits, 8,000Hz, Mono, but only go as high as: 56kBits, 24,000Hz, Stereo. now, i know that i have seen in a tutorial that you could have much higher kBits and atleast 44,100Hz. so my question is how can i select a higher mpeg layer-3 audio compression in vdub? do i need to install a special codec? thanks in advance.

Install Radium MP3 codec 1.2; download from http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Files/Audio/ra-codec12.zip.
