I got a Sound Blaster digital card that doesnt work after reinstalling windows. The computer locks up when it installs the drivers. I tried this card in another computer and it does the same. I even downloaded drivers from driverguide.com and it does the same.

Get the latest drivers from Creative. Make sure if you have onboard sound it's disabled.

Try these alternate drivers for your card.

if this card is freezing up two different computers I'm betting its the card itself not the drivers or even the IRQ.... if your 100% sure the card is fine (and thats not easy to do since grabbing it from a working computer could mess it up) then remove all card but the vid and sound and put the sound in each pci slot to see if it does the same thing.. if so then you need a new card.. but you can get one for cheap.. less than 40$ for a good one. and 10 for a cheap ass card.. you can get a SBlive for under 40 these days

You would probably be better served by dumping windows me.

I can't tell you what to do, but many frown on windows me as being the worst operating system ever.

I agree with zook on ditching ME. It's a half assed attempt to placate customers who wanted a new OS. In a few ways it's better than 98, in many ways it's not.

Maybe, but the key is that drivers are still being developed for xp, where as support for windows me has mainly stopped.
